San Antonio Spurs Tickets - Spurs Beat Kings 113-94 by Brent Warnken

Tony Parker led the Spurs with 24 points and seven assists, Richard Jefferson registered 21 points, Manu Ginobili scored 13 points and the San Antonio Spurs beat the Sacramento Kings 113-94. Get San Antonio Spurs tickets and see Parker dominate the paint with his jump shots. In the first quarter, just in time for Halloween, a bat swooped into the AT&T Center and descended onto the court. Ginobili used his bare hand to swat the bat from the air. He then carried the creature off the court and the game resumed. As the theme song to "Batman" played, a trainer attended to Ginobili, applying squirt sanitizer on the guard's hand. After the game, the guard jokingly said, "When you can't dunk anymore, you have to find a way to make it into the news."

Kevin Martin scored 26 points and Spencer Hawes added 22 for the Kings, who dropped to 0-3. Martin averaged 24.6 points last season but was sidelined for 31 games, including all three against the Spurs because of an ankle injury. After scoring 28 points against the Chicago Bulls in their second game of the season, Tim Duncan only had seven against Sacramento. He grabbed 10 rebounds and had one blocked shot. In the second half, the Kings struggled with shooting, handling the ball and containing Parker and Jefferson. Parker told the press the Spurs wanted to bounce back after their tough loss against the Bulls. He acknowledged that Chicago outplayed San Antonio, so Parker wanted to come out against the Kings with a lot of energy.

The Spurs increased their 16-point halftime lead to 21 by the end of the third quarter. Parker's energy was vibrant in the third quarter. He scored eight points and threaded an awesome pass to Roger Mason Jr., who hit a three-pointer. Mason recorded two three-pointers in the game. Jefferson also made two three-pointers and missed a third. San Antonio shot 50 percent (8 of 16) from behind the arc. Jefferson played well throughout the game. Parker stated that the forward was very impressive, especially when he made some shots from the outside. Theo Ratliff came off the bench and scored 15 points and contributed with five rebounds and two blocked shots. Sacramento had only two players who scored in double figures (Martin and Hawes). Desmond Mason was Sacramento's third-leading scorer with seven points.

Kings coach Paul Westphal admitted that his team was beating their heads "against the wall trying to figure out how to beat this team and stay in the game." The coach gave the Spurs a lot of credit because even when they went to the bench, they stayed solid. Westphal noted that the Kings were unable to keep Tony Parker out of the paint or guard Manu Ginobili. The coach did give his team credit for trying. San Antonio began pulling away from Sacramento with 7:17 left in the second period. San Antonio's DeJuan Blair managed to steal an inbound pass and made a layup, which capped a 19-6 San Antonio run. During that scoring burst, Parker scored six points, had three assists, grabbed two rebounds and made a steal.
